Lucas County Pit Crew

Jovie the tiny pit bull was taken in by Lucas County Pit Crew after suffering extreme starvation at the tender age of 11 weeks. She passed away at the age of 8 months after suffering complications from intestinal strictures. During her short life Jovie spread joy and laughter to all she met. Her presence lit up the room and she loved to make people happy. Jovie had a tremendous crew of supporters that enjoyed her daily video messages of hope, joy, and puppy silliness. In her memory we have created the #joviestrong fund to help other medically needy puppies get the veterinary care that they need to overcome obstacles and enjoy life. You can donate to her fund through our PayPal link and place Jovie's name in the memo. Honor her everyday by spreading joy to all you meet.

Jovie's fund called #joviestrong has helped a number of puppies already receive veterinary care to treat a variety of illnesses.

Keagan was the very first puppy brought into the Lucas Cou
nty Pit Crew under the JovieStrong fund. She was at Lucas County Canine Care and Control and had diffculty walking due to possibly being confined in a very small enclosure during her early growth period. Her legs were bowed and she had difficulty walking. She was lacking muscle tone in all of her body. She grew stronger, received therapy for her legs and was adopted into a wonderful family!

Colt James! Our little guy struggled to overcome a severe anal stricture and a very reactive colon. He was brought into the Lucas County Pit Crew at seven weeks and weighed only 2 pounds. Colt suffered with chronic diarrhea and a failure to thrive due to his medical conditions. Generous donors made it possible for Colt to receive treatment to try and help him enjoy life, grow, and have fun being a silly puppy. Thanks to our generous donors, Colt was able to enjoy life and tragically passed away just shy of his second birthday. #coltswish

Ramona and Beezus are two young puppies we brought in from Lucas County Canine Care and Control suffering from severe demodex. Both puppies had very little fur and were covered in scabs. They went into foster care and thanks to generous donors received the treatment that they needed to develop into healthy puppies. Ramona and Beezus were adopted into forever homes.  Beezus and Ramona are #joviestrong!

River! This little sweetheart came into the Lucas County Pit Crew from Lucas County Canine Care and Control with a severely fractured leg. After several months in foster care trying to heal her leg and save it, the leg had to be amputated. River was adopted in October 2015 and is loved and adored by her new family. Thanks to the joviestrong fund and Cutie's Fund for providing the medical care to make her new life possible. River is #joviestrong!

Rockwell! This adorable little guy came into Lucas County Pit Crew with seven siblings. Rockwell had horrible tremors and was completely unable to stand without shaking. Given support in a loving foster home and the right medical interventions, Rockwell developed into a typical puppy and was adopted into a wonderful family. Rockwell is #joviestrong!

Ziva was a young puppy that was surrendered to the Lucas County Pit Crew when her owners realized they were not able to care for her. Ziva's back legs did not develop normally and she was unable to use them. She could not stand or walk. We consulted with specialists to see what was the best course of medical treatment for Ziva. Her foster family had been working on strengthening Ziva's front legs to help her pull a wheelchair when Ziva began having seizures. Despite medication and consultation with a specialist, Ziva continued to have seizures and sadly passed away. Thanks to the #joviestrong fund and her loving foster family, Ziva experienced love and the best medical care available. We appreciate our donors that make a difference in the lives of medically fragile puppies.
