Education Programs

The Lucas County Pit Crew is committed to being a resource for our community. We offer dog safety education programs throughout the community and partner with other organizations to encourage children to read through our Pit Crew Buddies Reading Program. Please check our calendar page for information on dates and times our programs are being offered.

Pit Crew Buddies Reading Program

AKC Canine Good Citizen Max, and his mom Kay, enjoy helping young students become better readers. Max provides students with unconditional love and acceptance, while being an attentive listener. Max, along with several other pit crew dogs, make monthly appearances at area libraries.

 Dog Safety Education Programs
Several of our pit crew dogs are trained to help teach our dog safety education classes. We have worked with pregnant moms and newborns all the way up to senior citizens groups. We have also partnered with Lott Industries to provide programs to individuals with special needs in our community. Our one hour class gives individuals the basic tools they need to stay safe around dogs running as strays, as well as, dogs they interact with every day.

Many of our programs are free. These valuable programs are made possible because of our wonderful volunteers and generous donors in our community. We are always in need of more assistance to continue to provide these programs. If you are interested in sponsoring a program, please contact Jean Keating (canineadvocate1@yahoo.com).
